In 1971, at Lourdes. Faith and Light in Australia grew from a retreat given in Victoria in 1978 by French-Canadian Jean Vanier.

Anne Marie Hall began Faith and Light in Australia in 1978 at the request of Jean Vanier.

Each community has a coordinator, a chaplain and two or three other people who meet regularly as a team to plan the monthly gatherings.
